This stay is what you need when you want to escape the city pollution and daily crowds. We had the best week here in the middle of nature and surrounded by mountains. The food at Tripti gave us exactly what we needed on this detox trip. Siddu is a MUST try.

We were there for more than a month. Found Munish and family to be incredibly friendly, responsive & helpful. It is a beautiful place with wonderful views of the mountains (at least from our unit). Our stay was very comfortable. In addition when we needed anything extra … a pot or other utensils, they were available within minutes of our request.
The only negative was the noise pollution from the highway nearby & the music being played till 2am during the Diwali season. Munish was not responsible for any of this and couldn’t do anything about it.
The location also provided easy access by bus to Paprola, Palampur & Dharmashala whenever needed for groceries & trips… without the hustle & bustle of tourists !
Overall we had a wonderful time !

Out of everywhere I have stayed in India over the last 8 months this is the place I felt most peaceful and happy. The cottage was so comfortable and spacious, I loved the balcony to sit on and read or watch the mountains. The bedroom got cold at night but there were some thick blankets, so I slept well. The home-made food was delicious, I mostly joined for breakfast as lunch and supper were a bit late for me. Munish and his family were so kind and welcoming and helpful with any problem or query, it was a lovely atmosphere and I was delighted to get to meet Tenzin Palmo in her nunnery just ten minutes away. If you want a retreat from the world and to do some writing and sorting of your mind and life this is the perfect spot.

Most peaceful trip I have taken in my life. No hassle, no chaos. What was shown in the pictures, the BNB is better in reality. I was there for a wedding and honestly I just couldn’t wait to come to my BNB and just look at the views from my porch or breathe in the fresh air. Munish is easily the best host one can ask for. He’s kind, helpful, very direct with his instructions and very responsive. This place will feel like a hug.

Munish’s place made me feel at home instantly. He’s the sweetest, always up for conversation and helpful beyond words! I went alone, I didn’t know anything about the locality, he’s been mighty kind in telling me about things to do nearby. He’s helped my long distance friends plan my birthday. He’s super respectful about your privacy as well. He arranged for my airport pickup and drop.. All in all, I had a perfect trip, without any hiccups, thanks to Munish. Definitely going back.

Munish‘s place - Dharohar Cottages - is very nice and comfortable. Munish is extremely friendly and helpful. He had chalked out a detailed itinerary for us. We followed it and really enjoyed. The property is very scenic as was described on the website. You get a great view of the mountains from there. The sunrise was spectacular.
The food was awesome. The food that the family eats is the same that they serve to the guests too. It was Himachali cuisine which was prepared by their cook - Manjeet. We had good company of his parents too. They are lovely people. And his dog, Oscar is very friendly.

This was a last minute plan and honestly couldn't have been better. The amount of effort that Munish puts in to make your stay as homely as possible is applaudable. The property is a serene abode with breathtaking views right from the bed. Away from the hustle and bustle, a peaceful experience.
The food:
The property has an in-house dining hall(really beautiful) where you'll get to have simple and amazing Himachali food. The hall has a great decor and a chill vibe with an amazing playlist.
The views:
Can't get enough of them. The mornings start with a view of the mighty Dhauladhar Range standing in front of you, the noon brings you a soothing sunbath that you wouldn't want to leave, the evenings are for chasing sunsets and the nights you have the stars and constellations right above your head with a bonfire in the beautiful gardens of the property.

Host familly looked after us well. Hilight of the place is cleanliness, home cooked like simple and delicious food. Pine wood furniture & beds in rooms added elegance to the place. Kitchen was well equipped. Guests can cook their own meals if they wish so. 24 hour availability of hot water was another plus point. Enjoyed every bit. Would definitely return sometime again.

We had a lovely stay at Dharohar Cottages. We instantly felt comfortable. Munish and his family were very warm and inviting. The meals were delicious and just what we needed. The cuisine was mostly Himachali and absolutely mouth watering. The kitchen is also well equipped to make your own meals if you wish. We would highly recommend this place for those looking for a quiet serene atmosphere not too far away from the town.

And the space he has created is very beautiful, small details have been taken care of and the interiors of the room are also very well planned. The room was clean and the surroundings were very pretty. The local food was very tasty as well. The host was very friendly and responsive. I will like to visit the place again.

The property was exactly as described and offered excellent value for money in a beautiful setting. Moreover, the hosts were very hospitable, and the food served in their onsite restaurant was of excellent quality and value.

No Words to describe the Host, stay and property. Stayed for 3N and it even seems less. Munish was always there to help. Even Uncle ji and aunty ji were also very humble and sweet. One should atleast visit the place once. Full of nature and peace. Highly recommended for families looking for a place away from hustle and also at the same time near to market and eateries. Weather is also pleasant. Morning walk is a must. Will be definitely visiting again in winter's.

Munish's place is absolutely amazing. The cottages are airy, spacious, and tastefully done. If you are looking for a non mainstream stay / experience (beyond hotels and living in towns). Munish and family are kind and amazing hosts. They make you feel right at home with their warmth and amazing homely food. To top it all up, they gave us a really nice send-off with some amazing local food for breakfast and a bunch of orchard grown litchies. We were a family of four and had a really peaceful and enjoyable stay. I think the place is really underrated and under priced for what it offers.

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful secluded cottage. The view of the mountain was breathtaking and the cottage was cozy and comfortable. The host was very friendly and helpful, and provided everything I needed for a relaxing getaway. The cottage was clean and well-equipped, and the bed was super soft and warm. I enjoyed the peace and quiet which used to get filled with the birds chirping and the fresh air and nature. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic escape or a family

Our stay at Dharohar was very cosy and felt like home away from home. We stayed at the Rachna cottage which is the most beautiful skylight clad cottage with a very spacious balcony and a spectacular view. The food is extremely delicious, organic and healthy. The hosts were super kind and considerate. They would keep recommending the best and most offbeat places around. Every amenity was provided like good wifi, power backup, washing machine, deep cleaning and lots more. A must visit if you want a cosy space with a great view for your next workation!

I've stayed in bnbs around the world including cities like Dubai, Singapore but this probably stands out to be the best of all!
My personal experience of a family of four staying at this beautiful cottage(Swara) on the first floor is below

Pros:
- Just outside the cottage you'll find a Gazebo and a hammock to relax and chill out with a book or your laptop.
- The 2 BHK we stayed in was equipped with a full fledged kitchen including a gas stove, utensils and more. You just need to get basic groceries and you can cook!
- The interiors are really well thought out with light turquoise coloured curtains, wooden flooring, natural rock ceiling and also a skylight to allow natural sunlight to wake up to!
- And last but probably the best, Munish and the caretakers serve a delicious meal for a steal deal!

Cons:
- Not a con, but this place is situated in a village called Pandtehr and all attractions start after a radius of 5kms so it's better to hire someone to drive you around

It was a wonderful stay at Dharohar cottages. Each morning was a blissful one with a spectacular view of the mountain ranges straight from the balcony of the cottage. The host and his family welcomed and treated us with great hospitality. The home cooked delicacies were surely delicious. It was indeed a home away from home. I would like to thank everyone there for their hospitality. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

This was my first Airbnb experience and I have to stay I’m very happy with it, thanks to the host Munish. The location and the natural surroundings of the stay was everything. So peaceful and yet everything you need. The home-like food they provide (optional meals) is a definite recommendation, should not miss. Gonna bring my family next some time.

One of the best place to stay if you are looking for a place away from the hustle of Bir !

The place has great ambiance and is serenely located in a peaceful spot near pandtehr. Very feasible option for those looking for work-ation or just a getaway feel.
Property is almost 16kms away from bir and takes additional 16kms to reach billing.
Not alot of good cafes around, one has to commute to bir for better dining options.
Host is very friendly and helpful, he even came out to pick us up and helped us with recommendations. He often takes his guests on treks nearby.
Food is homely and delectable.

This place is a paradise amidst paradise! Nestled in a pristine location near Baijnath, that is conveniently accessible from Palampur and Bir.

Right from the moment we laid our eyes on this property on BNB portal and spoke to the host, Munish, our hunch told us that we are making the perfect choice! And it was rightly so…
Everything we received was exactly how it is portrayed in the pictures and even beyond that.

The owners of the property are extremely warm and hospitable people. You will receive the comfort and warmth of a home and service quality professional that of a boutique hotel.

I particularly loved the 200% focus on cleanliness and crispness of the room. Each room and wardrobes smelled of fresh scents, the decor and interior are tastefully done! Not to miss the hosts’ eye for detail while curating this beautiful space.

We had booked the place for an entire month. We had such a great time, away from the hustle bustle of city life. The view is just phenomenal and so is the weather. We explored a lot while taking walks. Munish and his family are very warm, welcoming and jolly in nature. It felt very homely ❤️.

It’s difficult to put into words just how amazing the Homestay is.

Situated in a pristine location right next to the Monastery, it has a warm, homely and welcoming vibe. Surrounded by mountains on one side and a big, private garden on the other - it acts like a balm to the soul.

Munish and his parents are super warm and always willing to help out. I chose Dharohar to work from the mountains and was pleasantly surprised by the fast internet speed. The room is well equipped, with everything that one could require for a comfortable stay.

A little share: I caught a cold when I reached, due to change in climatic conditions. Munish went out of his way to get a steamer and the necessary medicines, to help out with the recovery. Such kindness and thoughtfulness is what sets this place apart.

Cabs are available easily, grocery stores are at a walking distance and the locals are friendly. Also, the in house food is yum :)

I highly recommend this for both short and long term stays.

We visited second time to Dharohar. Amazing place to stay and witness the flawless vibes of Himachal. The host, Munish, was warm and welcoming. Aunty made siddu for us which was so delicious. My best place to be was the hammock in the garden.

Munish’s place is a slice of heaven on earth. I cannot describe in words the hospitality, kindness and compassion that Munish bhaiyya showed towards me. At the beginning of my trip I just thought that I met a wonderful trip, but once I reached there and felt his energy and his calmness I knew I found a life mentor, an elder brother and a wonderful human being who wants to genuinely take care of you.
The food they served was the best food, it is completely organic and is a family recipe that they use to cook and feed their guests with love.
I know for sure that this is only my first trip and that I will going there as often as I can to talk to him, seem the blessings of his parents and explore the wonderful land.
If you want to go there, it will be one of the best decisions of your life, just be transparent with Munish bhaiya and as much as possible he will take care of everything for you.

Munish and his family are great hosts. They are super friendly and lovely people.

The place is also very nice. It has a large outdoor area to sit amidst the trees. The place is well thought through and Munish's passion for creating an awesome homely stay is very visible. We stayed at "Yahvi", interior was clean and aesthetically pleasing. The house was equipped with everything we needed.

We stayed for a month long and explored Palampur, Bir, local market and monasteries around. Munish was always helpful.

We are so glad that we chose to eat local himachali food at Munish's kitchen which is at its best with hygiene, lovely ambience and taste.

Oskar - our sweetheart is the centre of attraction here for sure. He is a very cute dog who would make sure that we talk to him everyday :) People around this place are very kind, sweet and made us feel home.

To say that that my stay at Dharohar was excellent, would be an understatement. My wife and I were totally at home there. Munish and his parents were extremely hospitable; their warmth was indescribable. The accomodstion was neat and clean; and everything ticketyboo.
A word about their dog Oscar. Animal lovers that we are, Oscar recognized and became friends with us too. His bark directed at us was an indicative of a call to come and stroke him.
Overall, it was a great stay at Dharohar. We enjoyed every moment of our stay in nature's lap - great walks, great hikes, great interactions and great experience. We hope to return to Dharohar sooner or later to relive our memories again.

My stay at the Dharohar Cottage was one of the best Airbnb experience I've had with such genuine hospitality and kindness. The view of the Himalayan mountain chain were spectacular and the cottage was like a homely, wooden cabin -- so much charm and clean -- newly built. Wi-Fi is good enough for WFH. Munish and his family went above and beyond to make us feel at home and make our stay comfortable. Aunty cooked homemade himachali authentic meals which I thoroughly enjoyed. Munish organised private cabs for us, accurate information about buses, helped us order food at reputable places, and even invited us for the new year celebration in the evening -- think outdoor bonfire, live music and good vibes. Our time in Dharohar was incredible. Will look to revisit soon.

The place is beautiful and so calm and peaceful. The cottages are spacious and clean.

There’s a separate cottage for eating, which gives out the tastiest local Himachali dishes, which we couldn’t find anywhere in the now commercialised Bir market.

Munish was the perfect host, always giving out very useful suggestions according to our plan. Uncle and aunty were also very nice and of course Oscar (their dog) was a cutie I still miss.

All in all an amazing space. Just that it’s a little far from the main Bir and since it gets dark soon, you have to leave sooner to get back the cottages. But if that’s not an issue, then this place is PERFECT!

Stay at Dharohar was blissful and Munish was as helpful and resourceful as a host could be. I am grateful that even before we confirmed our booking, he entertained all the 100 little and big queries I had, since I picked his brain daily for literally a week, before we booked and he was prompt and patient enough to reply to everything. From cab bookings to travel recommendations to personally checking in on all our needs at the stay, he did it all and we couldn't have asked for more.

One tip to people looking to book Dharohar- if you decide to skip travelling far and want meals close to the stay, do go for their authentic Himachali kitchen Triptee, as they serve a diverse option of really healthy and tasty local dishes. If you do decide to venture farther out to cafes, try them at tourist hubs like Palampur and Bir so you get get a lot of options.

Dharohar is amazing for couples, groups or families, with its cottages all in the same spot. So any kind of group you are, go for it!

Dharohar cottages are exactly as they look in the pictures. A very peaceful property amidst hills and very well kept. Our room was extremely clean. What makes the stay even more wonderful is the yummy Himachali food served by their in-house chef and the warm hospitality of the host. Munish was extremely warm towards the guests and also entertained a lot of our queries and chats amidst his busy schedule. Looking forward to visit this place again for a longer stay!! :)

We had a very relaxing time at the Dharohar Cottages. The property is located near both Palampur and Bir. Nearby there's Tashi Jong Monastery which is a really beautiful place to visit.

The room was cosy, clean and comfortable. There's enough lawn area around the cottage to walk around and perhaps sit and read a book. There's marigold flowers blooming all around the property. The host Munish was always responsive and helpful whenever we needed his help.

Highly recommended if you want to stay near bir or palampur.

To say we have enjoyed this place will be an understatement. We have made memories of a lifetime here and did not want to leave! There are different reasons for this: 1)The cottages are comfortable and very tastefully done!
2) The place offers a wholesome experience.. we discovered several trails up into the hills, crisscrossing the villages, alongside and across the river. Villagers are friendly and readily offer a cup of tea with conversation!
3)Dharohar is conveniently located; Bir (paragliding heaven), McLeodGanj, Dharmshala, Baijnath etc etc!

4) The Khampagar monastery is within walking distance and very beautiful housing a nice restaurant. They regularly have prayers that one can participate in.

5)The host Munish is most happy to advise and lead you onto nice treks/trails.
6)His parents offer such simple warmth that stay long enough, and they will feel just like family.
7) Not the least is their very cute sheep dog Oscar, who has the most spectacular wet, black nose!

we stayed here for 2 nights, firstly it is exactly how it's shown on airbnb. clean and spacious room in a cottage surrounded by greenery and peace. Munish is a wonderful and helpful host,gave us lot of recommendations. We chose food made by their cook Mandeep in their kitchen at very nominal price and it was a pleasure to the taste buds. Located at Tashi jong can be easily located from the highway,Munish came to pick us up and we had a wonderful time here. it is wonderful for long stays. I would recommend my friends here for sure.

Staying at Dharohar was a last minute decision and one i won't regret about!
Dharohar cottages is a set of well designed, cozy and homely studios which give you a feeling of being at home.
Each studio has all the necessary arrangements for guests to stay for a day or a year! The location is close to the highway yet feels far away from any disturbance of settlement around.
The place is clean, well planned, peaceful and with all modern amenities.
Munish as a host is a warm person, who will guide you right from the booking to checkout. He has extensive knowledge of about everything and you can have very enriching "chai" talk with him and other guests. Being located close to his family home, there are rules for the house that are communicated well in advance.
We loved our stay at Dharohar and would definitely recommend it to people who are looking for peaceful stay options around Bir/Dharamshala.

Absolutely gorgeous property made and decorated with a keen eye for detail. We loved every minute of our stay! The host Munish, his mom and dad were some of the nicest bunch of people we have met, super cheerful, caring and extremely knowledgable about the flora and fauna of the place. Munish was very meticulous with his guidebook of the places we could visit and they were all spectacular. The property itself is made with locally sourced materials and talent and the grounds within the boundary exhibit grandeur in their vastness and diversity of plants, fruits, birds and nature. The caretaker Manjeet was very hands-on and was always available to lend a hand when required. The listing is equipped with everything little amenity one may need to have a comfortable and complete experience. We always felt we were right at home and Munish was very resourceful if we needed something at an odd hour. The food is very reasonably priced, just like home and prepared with lots of love and secret ingredients by Munish's lovely mother with whom we loved to spend our idle time listening of her tales of growing up in the mountains and anecdotes from her life in general. I think we'd love to come back again just to spend quality time with Munish and his parents as they were some of the most wonderful people we have met during our travels. Munish's place is highly recommended and I learnt that Munish also lets it our for long term rentals which is something we have on the cards. The place is located just right with everything within reach via gorgeous mountain roads that we loved to drive on. We travelled with our eleven month old and never felt out of place or comfort. The property is a hidden gem, away from the main roads and the hustle bustle. the rooms were immaculate and Munish was an amazing host, constantly giving us options to explore nearby or getting us some soul-warming home made food. highly recommended ?

Our stay at Dharohar cottages was probably the best decision we took. The space is beautifully done and can comfortably house 4 people which was our biggest concern, since we were travelling with our parents. There alot of attention to detail that's been given which adds character to the space.
Aunty's food was served with much love and warmth, and the delicious breakfasts kept us going throughout the day.
Munish was very pleasant to communicate with and also helped us with places to visit in Palampur and around.
Overall I couldn't recommend this place enough and can say that it's probably the best homestay in Palampur.

Where do I start. This place is almost perfect in every aspect. The location, the thoughtfully designed cottages, interiors, the color of the curtains, hangings on the wall, the pinewood furniture, carefully placed power sockets, lights and fans, insect nets on almost every window and door, power backups and buttons with backup marked with green color, the balcony, indoor plants, well stacked kitchenette, quality of the utensils, see through glass panes on the roof, Himalayan slate roof, solar water system and of course the whole farm with different trees and plants, Oscar the cute Shephard dog. If this wasn't enough Munish and his family are the greatest hosts. Home cooked himachali food which is blessed by Aunty's love. The location is amazing in a quaint village called Tashi Jong. Just head out for a walk in any direction and you'll be treated with amazing views. Munish helps out with great suggestions on places to hike and trek. Unfortunately we could only stay for 15 days. We are looking forward to the time when we plan another stay at Dharohar and soak in the beautiful view of dhauladhars from the balcony and get to stay with Munish and his family. If you are looking to stay anywhere in Himachal Dharohar is a no brainer choice. This place is a work of art!
